Surface Pattern Design is more than just art for surfaces. The designer creates a collection of repeats for a design in a pattern format. As a result, the artwork can be printed on wallpapers, fabrics, packaging, and much more.
A collection revolves always around a certain leitmotif. This can range from complex visuals to personal stories. The designs of such a collection are following a silver lining, but each design is a standalone art piece, and when combined they can create a unique visual narrative.
First, I create a bespoke concept for the surface pattern design collection, which focuses on a dedicated topic. After that, I work on the initial analog drawing and sketching process. Once that is done, I use my preferred digital tool, which is Adobe Illustrator. There I give my designs the final polish and set them in a repeat.
Once that is done, and I’m content with my collection, it is ready for licensing and being used by my clients.
